Day One In The Studio + New Gig

Monday, January 12th, 2009

Evenin.

So, got up pretty early to be at the studio for 9 and book out some more time, looks like someone beat us to it for thursday.

Nevermind.

Right, so yes, well, it was pretty good fun, Joe put a new skin on his kick so it sounded phat phat phat and Andy had bought this new audix kick mic which destroys. So that was nice, used a couple of Neuman/Neumonn/Neuman? tiny little mic things for overheads which are amazing, like smarties but with all the additives and colour changing ingredients.

Got some pictures and some video. Managed to get two drum tracks done for two new song demo’s and one drum track for my spanish/jazz thingy which was good. Ran out of time for guitars though, so will be doing them with vocals on wednesday, will put up some pics and news from that when all that happens.

This is the first time we’ve recorded anything with Protools and its all sounding good, not too sure about the sequencer…hmmm.

We all can’t wait to have the demo’s finished and show you what we’ve been up to under artificial light.

Right, some pics and vid’s…

Gig wise we’re playing our first gig of 2009 at Mansion in Scarborough on Wednesday 28th January, we’ve never played there before and have had some pretty interesting experiences ‘clubbing’ there, very bizzare indeed but should be good fun, gunna be playing the songs we’re now recording so come down if your in the Scarb.

Our easter tour, which doesn’t actually stretch over easter but has a nice ring to it i think, is nearly all booked, still looking for a northen show on Thursday 26th March though, anyone interested in putting us on send us a message on our myspace or email band at mum locked in castle dot com .

We’ve also asked Sonny Kay who did our EP artwork to design us a poster so we can put it in some zines, but mainly so we can get some printed up to put round our house, it should be a guddan, o yes. He’s got some print for sale on his website…

they’re amazing, i’d do it if i were you.

Right, well this is quite long, back to note takin i thinks.

Request us!

Sunday, January 11th, 2009

Mornan.

So i was googling last night and found out that ‘Volta! Volta!’ was played on BBC Leeds last sunday, so far we’ve had radio play on BBC stations Leeds/York/Humberside/Suffolk/Essex and Six, and Hull KCFM. Its all fun, so i thought i’d post some emails of the Radio stations to which we would be very grateful if you could send them a lovely email requesting one of our tracks. Most should have a copy of the EP as they’ve been playing it already so hopefully to more people that request it the more we’ll be played and then all that jazz.

So.

I’ll stick the list up here!

BBC York

Matt Seymour - matthew.seymour@bbc.co.uk

BBC Essex

Mike and Ollie - essex.introducing@bbc.co.uk

BBC Humberside/Leeds

Katy Noone - raw.talent@bbc.co.uk

BBC Suffolk

BBC Introducing - suffolk@bbc.co.uk

Hull KCFM Rock Show

Crown Jules - crown.jules@kcfm.co.uk

BBC 6

Bruce Dickinson Rock Show - bruce.6music@bbc.co.uk

If you could take a second to request one of our tunes we’d be super super grateful!

Looking forward to tracking drums tomorrow, should be good times, gunna do some filming while we record so will post clips up for all to see just how amazingly fun Scarborough is.

Hasta.
